Sweet Home Belize

Sweet Home Belize

Going back home is always filled with special memories since you get to see close family and friends. I love going back to Belize because there is a freedom that comes with being back home. Life is much slower paced and most of the time you feel like you don’t have a care in the world. The atmosphere allows you to sit, meditate, and just relax most of the time.
I won’t lie. Sometimes life can be busy, and I have “puppy foot”, which is a Belizean saying. It means that I love to travel. It can be far or near distance. If I am able to get out of the house, I’ll take it.
So, when my partner and I unexpectedly decided that we would pack our bags and head home for a bit, I was like…. LET’S DO IT!!!!
I knew this trip was going to be a little different…. a little more special, because I would get to take my business partner along. (He makes up the next half of Belizean Spices and Apparels)
Funny back story…. I was born in the US but moved to Belize when I was little. He was born in Belize but moved to the US when he was little. However, he had not been “home” since he was a toddler so this trip would definitely be on his bucket list. Well at least I would think so!
I was ecstatic because not only would I get to go home and see my family. I would also get to accompany my partner on a life changing journey that had been years in the making and I definitely live for moments like these!
Anyhow, we made travel arrangements, packed and left Atlanta that morning. Little did we know that this trip would not only be a life changing experience, but it would be the best trip of our lives!
My dad picked us up from the airport that Sunday afternoon. We made a couple stops and then went home.
I grew up and lived in a small village. I grew up climbing trees, hiding in the bushes, and playing in the sand just to name a few things. Living in a village is very different than living in a city so I always look forward to going back to my home village so I could relax and get away for a bit.
As I arrived home, I could feel that fresh cool village breeze that just hits differently. My partner was also able to share that experience with me. This would be one of many first memorable experiences we would have at home in Belize.
As I put my bags down, I was just glad to be home sweet home.
